Thredbo is Australia's premier alpine resort, located in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. With the country's longest runs, highest lifted point (2,037m), and a vibrant village atmosphere, it's the closest thing to a European-style ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere. The season runs from June to October — winter Down Under.
Best Time to Visit
Peak Season (July – August)
July and August are the heart of the Australian ski season. Snow coverage is most reliable, and the full mountain including the Supertrail (Australia's longest run at 5.9km) and Karel's T-Bar expert terrain are typically open. School holidays in July bring the biggest crowds.
Early & Late Season (June, September – October)
Early June can be hit-or-miss for natural snow, though Thredbo has extensive snowmaking. September offers excellent spring conditions with fewer crowds and lower prices. The season often extends into early October.
