Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026. Aspen Snowmass lists November 26 as the start of its overall 2026–27 season window, but that does not establish that all four mountains or every learning area will open that day.
Book the trip around a minimum viable ski day
| You need | Before committing |
|---|---|
| First-time lessons | An explicitly operating beginner venue, confirmed lesson and equipment booking. |
| Intermediate skiing | Enough suitable open terrain for repeatable laps; do not rely on a full-mountain tour. |
| Expert terrain | A separate confirmed opening; an overall season start does not promise upper terrain. |
| A four-mountain sampler | Individual mountain dates and actual open connections/services—not an umbrella season window. |
Use flexible commitments
Choose lodging, transport and products with change terms you understand. Read cancellation deadlines before paying, and decide what minimum terrain would make the trip worthwhile. Check which mountain each lesson or rental serves; a booking at an unopened venue cannot be solved by assuming another mountain accepts it automatically.
Have a non-ski version of the holiday
- Choose meals and other activities that do not depend on all-day skiing.
- Check current venue hours and reservations separately from the ski-season announcement.
- Reassess the official terrain report near departure, then each morning.
- If essential learning terrain or a booked service is unavailable, use the applicable change process rather than substituting terrain beyond the group’s ability.
Early-season plans work best when an enjoyable trip does not depend on a specific upper lift or an unannounced mountain opening.
