Pass and access

The currently displayed winter policy requires a carried free pass, obtained from Guest Services at the Main Base Lodge, and acceptance of the policy. Follow the designated purple-dotted map routes and current closures. The resort recommends travel during operating hours; a gondola download is available only within its operating hours, so do not make it the only way your plan works.

Pick the turnaround before starting

  • For a shorter outing, choose a mid-mountain route rather than assuming every ascent must reach the summit.
  • Check current uphill permission, conditions and the permitted descent.
  • Leave margin for fatigue and changes in weather.
  • If the route closes or your return becomes unsuitable, stop and seek staff guidance rather than continuing off-route.

Sun Bowl and Main Base starts are distinct. Plan how you return to the starting location, especially if using a summit route. A shorter ascent with a familiar descent can be the better first outing.
